Procrastination Strikes again!

I just posted this on my Pennicole Graphics Blog and thought it would serve nicely as a post to my personal blog. There the heading was different but the content was the same.

What’s my role in this?

I’ve been reading a lot of books just recently. I read Seth Godin’s book, All Marketers Are Liars, and found it both entertaining and informative. Seth is irreverent, funny and delivers a good message. Fun read. I recommend Seth’s book highly.

During my search for a copy of Seth’s book through my local library system, I found another intriguing title mentioned and decided to ‘check it out’ to find out what it was all about; Bruce Lipton’s book, The Biology of Belief.

If you are at all interested in what motivates you (or other people) and why we function (as a species) the way we do, this book will fill you in. It does have some science in it but Lipton has a way of explaining things so even those who flunked science can grasp and understand his very plausible concepts. Good read. Can barely put it down!

A Generic Blog with pics

This is one of the posts I had from Lynda.com training on this software. As such, it has nothing to do with me or my blog, but it does act as filler until I have some entries of my own.

I purchased a digital camera not long ago and will be using it to catch some photos of my world and interests to help make this blog a more inviting place to visit. Hope you like the results. From this point on, ignore the content!

Since the school first opened, all Kindergarten books were housed in the common area between the two Kindergarten classrooms. Because the Kindergarten is so close to the school library, Principal Sheeney and the Board of Education decided to create a special Kindergarten area within the library. Kindergarten classes will make weekly “field trips” down the hall to the library for story time and occasional puppet shows. The library will be closed to other students during this time.

The new Kindergarten section will be a great way to introduce our youngest students to what libraries are all about!

I’m pretty sure I’ve completed the coursework

It’s been a while since I posted anything. It’s Monday afternoon and I’ve made some changes to one of the Websites I’m responsible for. So it’s time to post to this blog again. I completed all my certification exams, turned in an eportfolio and published a showcase of my work on the student server BUT I received another message from my instructor today that I needed to submit a transcript just to make sure I have completed everything. So far, the transcript is still missing several classes that I’ve already finished so I’m still praying that I’m finished. I joined an online community on retirement and am becoming more active on Facebook. Little by little, I’m learning more about all of the Social Networking stuff. I look forward to being able to shout it out and say, “I’m outta that program ‘cuz I finished it”! Spent a warm weekend listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was good to look forward to nothing but the book. Now I will get back to updating a few more sites and presenting the updates starting this week. I am looking forward to working on my personal site and the commercial sites I oversee. No longer a student, now I can do some experimenting and just have a little fun.

And I thought I was finished!

I took some much needed time for R&R. My week of vacation started off rather poorly with the loss of my rescue kitty. Apparently, she went into renal failure on Sunday evening and by the time I got her to the vet, there was nothing to do except say goodbye. I let her go with a very heavy heart and then came back home and cleaned out her things. My other kitty is now getting used to her absence and is being a good companion. On Sunday morning around 8:15, I received an email from the main instructor of the online training I’ve been taking now for over a year and a half stating that I still had the equivalent of one full class missing in items I had not completed to receive the certifications and college credit for all that hard work. I was stunned! I had gone to the school’s student access site day after day after day looking for my final grades and had found nothing for an entire week, then this notice. After a reply and checking, I waited to hear back from the instructor. She replied with the missing information I would need to comply with the requirements in order to fulfill the program. She gave me until Aug. 1 to complete these requirements. I have recovered from the shock and am even making progress towards completion. This time, I am hopeful I will actually be finished. The guidelines I now am following give me a better and clearer path toward the finish line than the ones I had been following. The finish line still looks a long way off but, with hard work and focus, I will be able to reach it. And you can be sure that I look forward to finishing this program so I can get on with my life again. This episode just points out to me that life happens as we plan it! And the plans always seem to pale in comparison to the real thing. The better our guidelines are, the easier it is to reach the goal. Mine had become a bit fuzzy and had lost definition. I am thankful for a set of clear guidelines pointing toward the finish. This applies to my entire life of which this program is only a small part. My wish for you, dear reader, is that all your guidelines will have clarity and give you precisely the direction you need when you start feeling lost. Blessings

What a day Monday it was!

I haven’t posted for a while but decided to do so in hopes of unscrambling my thoughts. Yesterday, I was at the point of exhaustion all day. I went home from work and did a few chores then readied myself for a full evening of studies. I curled up with my text book and started to read in order to finish the final lesson in my current class so I could then start taking my exams and be finished by Friday at 5:00pm when this online class closes. At 10:30pm I awoke just long enough to turn off lights and crawl into bed. I overslept this morning since I had neglected to turn on my bedside alarm. I did manage to arrive at work on time with a little to spare but am amazed at the length of time I slept to recover from a weekend of lost sleep. One good note is that I was able to finish my last project in this online class and now have only one lesson to complete before starting my final exams. One bad note is that the next class starts Friday evening at 5:01pm. There is no rest for the wicked, I guess.

Spring is in the air – so how come I feel like this?

Spring is in the air alright but I’m still feeling like the proverbial bear in hibernation. Bummer. Yesterday was a rather hectic one and last night was not much better. It looks as though I will have to go on meds to control my blood pressure and that’s a REAL bummer. Today is not quite as crazy but I’m already looking forward to the next long weekend for a little R&R. The studies continue and the review is going well. After fighting a bout of the flu for 3+ weeks, I’m beginning to feel a bit more normal with only occasional lapses of sinus problems. I’ve even returned to exercising and will continue the practice today. Before the flu thing hit, I was doing well and making real progress in keeping stress and anxiety under control but now am worse off than I was before the flu hit like a ton of bricks. But upward and onward as they say. Do hope you are enjoying the warm weather and sunshine today and through the weekend. Pres. Obama is supposed to have an explanation of the impact of his economic recovery stimulus plan this weekend but the time is right when I’m at church. I don’t know about going to someone’s house to view the plan but may still find the guts to sign up for the house meeting and just plan to come late. The explanation will be for 2 hrs and that will cover most of the questions. Until then, stay warm and well.
