Our student worker must have lost his way

I’m finished with my training on WordPress and have begun our student worker on the Lynda.com online video training. He comes in from 12p-2pm and then from 3p-5pm. It’s now about 30 minutes past the time he’s usually here.

He either got lost or someone else in the office grabbed him up and set him to work on another project. He’s a really good kid and is very knowledgeable about Internet things.

Maybe, Monday will be a time I can get him back to the videos. He seems to really enjoy the training since he has no tests to take and the concepts are fun and familiar.

Ahhhh! He’s hear and back at it. Someone else had finally released him back to his training. Hooray!

Some ‘added’ posts

I have added another blog which will serve as my business blog and this one will soon become my personal blog so don’t freak out when you see that the header graphic has changed. These updates will be coming soon but not until I have some of my other weekend chores and activities out of the way.

I added some posts from another blog I have on blogger. Although I followed the directions (I think), adding the posts didn’t really turn out the way I thought it would.

Guess what? I have the added posts corrected and added to this blog just as they were originally on blogger. WordPress is such a cool application and has a number of features not available on blogger.

Some of the posts on this blog were ones created during my training on WordPress thru Lynda.com online video training. If you haven’t tried out her site but want to learn more or upgrade your computer skills, Lynda.com is the perfect place to start. Anyway, I will soon replace, update or remove these posts.

The more recent posts are centered around my personal activities, observations and lifestyle. My interests are art, calligraphy, blogging, Internet research, reading and learning about new subjects.

What are your interests? How do you like to spend your time?

I’m pretty sure I’ve completed the coursework

It’s been a while since I posted anything. It’s Monday afternoon and I’ve made some changes to one of the Websites I’m responsible for. So it’s time to post to this blog again. I completed all my certification exams, turned in an eportfolio and published a showcase of my work on the student server BUT I received another message from my instructor today that I needed to submit a transcript just to make sure I have completed everything. So far, the transcript is still missing several classes that I’ve already finished so I’m still praying that I’m finished. I joined an online community on retirement and am becoming more active on Facebook. Little by little, I’m learning more about all of the Social Networking stuff. I look forward to being able to shout it out and say, “I’m outta that program ‘cuz I finished it”! Spent a warm weekend listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was good to look forward to nothing but the book. Now I will get back to updating a few more sites and presenting the updates starting this week. I am looking forward to working on my personal site and the commercial sites I oversee. No longer a student, now I can do some experimenting and just have a little fun.

And I thought I was finished!

I took some much needed time for R&R. My week of vacation started off rather poorly with the loss of my rescue kitty. Apparently, she went into renal failure on Sunday evening and by the time I got her to the vet, there was nothing to do except say goodbye. I let her go with a very heavy heart and then came back home and cleaned out her things. My other kitty is now getting used to her absence and is being a good companion. On Sunday morning around 8:15, I received an email from the main instructor of the online training I’ve been taking now for over a year and a half stating that I still had the equivalent of one full class missing in items I had not completed to receive the certifications and college credit for all that hard work. I was stunned! I had gone to the school’s student access site day after day after day looking for my final grades and had found nothing for an entire week, then this notice. After a reply and checking, I waited to hear back from the instructor. She replied with the missing information I would need to comply with the requirements in order to fulfill the program. She gave me until Aug. 1 to complete these requirements. I have recovered from the shock and am even making progress towards completion. This time, I am hopeful I will actually be finished. The guidelines I now am following give me a better and clearer path toward the finish line than the ones I had been following. The finish line still looks a long way off but, with hard work and focus, I will be able to reach it. And you can be sure that I look forward to finishing this program so I can get on with my life again. This episode just points out to me that life happens as we plan it! And the plans always seem to pale in comparison to the real thing. The better our guidelines are, the easier it is to reach the goal. Mine had become a bit fuzzy and had lost definition. I am thankful for a set of clear guidelines pointing toward the finish. This applies to my entire life of which this program is only a small part. My wish for you, dear reader, is that all your guidelines will have clarity and give you precisely the direction you need when you start feeling lost. Blessings

Saturday blahs

I still have not found the error in my blog scripts and am going round and round trying to discover what, if anything, I left out or typed wrongly. Went to hear and see a performance of Haydn’s ‘The Creation’ this afternoon. It was held in the sanctuary of First Presby of OKC. Quite an epic presentation. The soaring duet between Adam and Eve in the final Part III was touching as well as beautiful unlike the angelic solos of the earlier Parts I and II. The finale was to Praise God, Almighty for His grand creation. I found it moving but couldn’t seem to keep myself from questioning this story of creation we have fabricated. Who is man that God should take passing notice of even our praise? Leaves me with deep questions which are no more than ego constructs, no doubt. I enjoyed the break from searching through line by line for hidden errors and omissions, though.

Not just Another Monday

I have been working on a book for the Hindu Temple of Oklahoma City. In June of 2009 the Temple will have an installation of several more Deities and it has been my privilege to work on some of the literature for the momentous event coming. I am learning about how much of Hinduism is the foundation for Christianity’s believe system, dogma or theology. I am interested, fascinated and yet, a bit overwhelmed with the Hindu rituals and how they relate to their (and Christian) forms of worship. I have been invited to attend this grand event and am inclined to attend at least a part of the festivities in order to learn more about this fascinating subject on a firsthand basis. I will let you know how this unfolds.

Definitely Monday

It has been a Monday to remember and not for any good reasons. To begin, a computer glitch and then an hour lost over the weekend due to Daylight Savings time change (does it really save daylight?) and lastly a holdup and road blocks to getting the computer glitch repaired. I simply don’t know how long this will take to repair and get me back in the ‘groove’ so to speak. The only good thing about today is that I will be going home soon. Perhaps, Tuesday will offer more positive things.
